Schladming

A former mining town in Styria turned big ski resort, host of two Alpine World Ski Championships.

Schladming is a small former mining town in north-west Styria that became one of Austria's larger winter-sports resorts, host of the Alpine World Ski Championships in 1982 and again in 2013. The ski slopes of the Planai come right down to the edge of town.
