Courchevel 1850
The highest and most expensive of Courchevel's villages, and the one with the Three Valleys opening straight off its doorstep.
Courchevel is four villages stacked up one valley, named for their altitudes in metres — 1300, 1550, 1650 and 1850. The top one is the famous one: the highest, the priciest, and the one with designer storefronts and an altiport cut into the slope above it.
What justifies it for a skier is the position. Courchevel is one end of the Three Valleys, the largest linked ski area in the world, and from 1850 you can ride lifts as far as Val Thorens and back within a day without unclipping for a transfer. The skiing immediately above the village is wide and well-groomed rather than steep.
If the prices at 1850 don't appeal, the lower villages share the identical lift network for considerably less — the mountain doesn't know which altitude you slept at.
