San Miguel de Allende

A hill town smaller and quieter than its postcard pink church spire suggests, with a food scene out of proportion to its size.

Cobbled streets, courtyard restaurants, and a large expat population have pushed the food here well past what a town this size usually gets. Come for the architecture; the reason to stay longer is what's on the menu just off the main square.
