- In the village of Harads, about an hour's drive from Luleå Airport in Swedish Lapland.
Why it’s in the log
Treehotel is a set of individually architect-designed rooms built into the pine forest outside Harads, each one different — the UFO and the Mirrorcube among them, each a distinct piece of architecture rather than a standard hotel room repeated with a different view. It's the reason a village of a few hundred people has an international following.
Being small and popular, rooms need booking well ahead, especially around aurora season from autumn through winter and the midnight sun in summer — both are genuinely visible this far north, not just marketing copy.
“Every room is a different building — you pick the one that matches the mood, not just the price bracket.”
