Cardiff

Built as a pub next to one of the city's first shopping arcades, and it outlasted the arcade's original purpose.

The Old Arcade opened in 1844 alongside one of Cardiff's first covered arcades, built to funnel shoppers from Church Street through to the new market. The pub outlasted the name it originally traded under and most of what the arcade itself used to sell, and has since become one of the city's best-known rugby pubs — a short walk from both the castle and the stadium.
