Carmel-by-the-Sea
A one-square-mile village on the Monterey Peninsula with no street addresses, only corners.
Carmel-by-the-Sea is small enough that its businesses are still addressed by intersection — Mission and Fifth, Ocean and Lincoln — rather than street number. Cypress trees and cottage-scale buildings keep it from feeling like the rest of the Central Coast, and the beach at the foot of Ocean Avenue is the reason most people first come.
