Palm Springs runs hot from June through September, which is exactly why its high season is winter — snowbirds and weekenders filling the midcentury motels built for exactly this kind of desert escape. The old Palm Springs Plaza, off the main resort strip, still holds a few of the town's smaller, quieter rooms.
