Seefeld

An old farming and pilgrimage village on a high plateau north-west of Innsbruck, now a cross-country skiing resort.

Seefeld sits on a plateau between the Wetterstein and Karwendel ranges, about 17 kilometres north-west of Innsbruck, on a road that has carried traffic between Mittenwald and Innsbruck since the Middle Ages. It was a pilgrimage site from the 14th century before it was a resort; now it is known above all for cross-country skiing.
