Cienfuegos

A bay city laid out in neoclassical order, with a Moorish fantasy of a palace at the end of its peninsula.

Cienfuegos was founded by French settlers in the early nineteenth century and still has the straight streets and colonnades to show for it. The interest runs south from the centre down the Punta Gorda peninsula, where the merchants who got rich here built their villas facing the bay.
