Casablanca isn't chasing the imperial-city circuit — it's a working port city that happens to have one of the largest mosques in the world on its coastline and a downtown full of 1920s and '30s French Art Deco buildings, most still unrestored. Most visitors pass through on the way somewhere else; a day here is enough to see why some don't.
