Why it’s in the log
Ayutthaya Antique House is a restored teak homestay set in a quiet garden, a short walk from the riverside temple ruins that draw most visitors to the city. It's small and family-run rather than hotel-scaled, with the kind of old wooden architecture that's increasingly rare to find still standing, let alone still lived in.
The location is the other half of the appeal — far enough from the main tourist strip to be quiet at night, close enough to walk to the ruins without needing a tuk-tuk.
Worth booking ahead given how few rooms it has; this isn't a place that can absorb a full bus of same-day arrivals.
“A proper old teak house rather than a hotel built to look like one — small enough that it still feels like staying with someone.”
