Why it’s in the log
Hotel Kimal is built low and adobe-walled, in keeping with San Pedro's building code and its own instinct to stay out of the way of the landscape — a flowering garden, shaded terraces, and rooms finished in raw wood and stone rather than anything glossy. It's a short walk from the plaza, close enough to reach town for dinner but far enough to stay quiet at night.
At 4.5 stars over more than 600 reviews, it sits well below San Pedro's handful of ultra-luxury desert lodges on price while still delivering the two things that matter most out here: a genuinely dark sky and staff who know the surrounding salt flats and geysers well enough to help plan around them.
