Los Danzantes started in Oaxaca before opening this Mexico City location in Coyoacán, and the mezcal-first sensibility of the original carries over — the drinks list is as considered as the food. The restaurant sits on Coyoacán's central park in a converted colonial building, with garden seating that's the main draw whenever weather allows.
The kitchen does contemporary Mexican cooking rather than straight tradition, taking regional ingredients and techniques somewhere more composed than a typical fonda. It's a step up in price from most of Coyoacán's cafés and market stalls, but the setting and the mezcal pairings justify it for a proper sit-down meal.
Coyoacán itself — Frida Kahlo's old neighborhood — is worth the afternoon regardless; this is a good place to end it.
