Restaurant Mañío

4.6(212 on Google)
Getting there
On the Panamericana just outside Chonchi's town center

Why it’s in the log

Restaurant Mañío serves the food Chiloé is actually known for — curanto, the archipelago's traditional mix of shellfish, meat and potato slow-cooked in a pit or a pot, plus fresh-caught seafood and native potatoes — well outside the tour-bus stops in Castro or Ancud. It's a small, family-run operation rather than a production built for groups.

At 4.6 stars over 212 reviews it's well liked locally, though as a small operation on a remote stretch of the island it can keep irregular hours or close for stretches depending on the season and the day's catch — worth calling ahead rather than just showing up.

Excellent restaurant. The daily menu is awesome. Portions are big, quality is the highest you can find and the service is just perfect. It’s hard to find something like this.

The restaurant offered a wonderful experience! The food was delicious and the service was excellent—friendly and attentive. The fish dishes were a bit on the oily side, but very tasty nonetheless. The highlight was the absolutely stunning…
