Trillby & Chadwick
- Getting there
- Tucked into a courtyard off Katariinankatu, near the harbour market square
Why it’s in the log
Trillby & Chadwick is a small cocktail bar set back in a courtyard off Katariinankatu, close to Helsinki's harbour market square, and it plays the part of speakeasy without overdoing the theatrics. The cocktail list leans literary — drinks named after characters and books rather than the usual bar-menu clichés — and the bartenders clearly take the craft seriously.
The room itself is compact and low-lit, built for conversation rather than a big night out. It's the kind of bar that rewards knowing it's there rather than stumbling past it on the main street.
Good for a late drink after dinner in Kruununhaka or a stop on the way from the harbour — it doesn't take reservations for casual visits, so arriving a little early on a weekend helps.
“You have to look for the entrance, and that's part of the point — a proper hidden bar, not just a bar with a sign missing.”
