Row-house taverns a couple of blocks off the landmark circuit have been pouring for the same neighborhood since the 1800s.
Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell pull the crowds downtown, but Philadelphia's older taverns and corner spots — some running since before the Civil War — never stopped being local bars first and tourist stops a distant second.
