The Chedi Al Bait
- Getting there
- Inside the Heart of Sharjah heritage district, off Corniche Street
Why it’s in the log
The Chedi Al Bait occupies a cluster of restored historic courtyard houses inside Heart of Sharjah, the emirate's ongoing restoration of its pre-1960s old town. Wind towers, coral-stone walls, and shaded internal courtyards do the same climate work they always did, now wrapped around a boutique hotel rather than a private residence.
It sits inside a heritage district rather than beside one — the souq, the old fort, and Sharjah's museums are all a short walk away, which makes the hotel a base for the old town rather than a stop on the way to it. Alcohol isn't served, in line with Sharjah's dry status across the emirate.
Worth booking for the setting as much as the room — a courtyard breakfast under a wind tower is a different start to the day than any of the coastal high-rise hotels nearby can offer.
“Staying inside the walls of the old town rather than a tower on the coast changes the whole trip.”
