Still Standing After a Century

Ten kitchens and bars that have been open, under the same name, for over a hundred years — the oldest since 1465.

None of these opened as a concept. They opened because a family had a recipe, a room, or a barrel of wine, and enough people kept coming back that closing was never really on the table — through world wars, occupations, name disputes and, in most cases, the grandchildren of whoever started it.

The oldest, a wine-only room in Bologna, opened in 1465 — a generation before Columbus reached the Americas. The youngest, a Yucatán cantina, is still only a hundred-odd years old by comparison. None of them have a website that looks new, and most of them still don't need one.
