Why it’s in the log
Amal Center is a nonprofit restaurant and cooking school in Guéliz, Marrakech's newer, French-built district away from the medina. It trains disadvantaged and marginalized women in cooking and hospitality, then employs them in the restaurant — the meal itself is the fundraising model, not a side donation box by the till.
The menu changes with whoever's cooking that week, built around home-style Moroccan dishes rather than a fixed tasting menu. It reads less like a restaurant trying to impress and more like someone's actual kitchen, which is close to the point.
It's a lunch spot rather than a dinner destination — check current hours before going, since a training kitchen doesn't run on a hotel restaurant's schedule.
